What is vape/e-cigarette?
Vaping represents the use of a vaping device i.e. an e-cigarette, which is an alternative way to administer nicotine, instead of having to smoke analogue cigarettes.
The battery unit usually has an in-built lithium-ion battery, which is rechargeable, thus powering the device. Entry-level electronic cigarettes have an internal battery but more advanced devices have removable, controllable batteries that can be modded to administer more power, operate on different coils and so on.
How does a vaping device work?
The liquid holder is usually referred to as a clearomizer or tank and contains a heating element within called an atomizer (coil). Upon using the vaping device, the battery heats up the coil, which in turn, heats up small amounts of the e-liquid contained in the clearomizer, thus creating vapor.
Is vaping safe?
While cigarettes contain thousands of harmful chemicals, vaping is considerably safer, considering the fact that e-liquids generally contain glycerine, nicotine, and food-grade colouring.
It is also possible that some forms of vaping are safer than others. Our mission is to provide vapers with the best information available so they can make an informed choice on which products are appropriate for them.
Why should I vape?
The main reason to start vaping is that you wish to quit smoking cigarettes, and hence, administer nicotine via an alternative way that is both pleasurable, but also effective.
Vapers choose to use the products for a number of reasons; vaping can be cost saving, better for your health and more convenient from all the points of view.
What e-liquids should I get?
There is no one-size fits all answer to this question, it is best to try out a few e-liquids to see what you prefer.
What strength e-liquid should I buy?
As a beginner vaper, we would recommend 12mg. This is to mimic the harshness of a cigarette and also to provide you with a similar amount of nicotine that you would get from a cigarette.
If you are a heavy smoker you would probably want to start with a strong e-liquid. However it is not all based on nicotine strength, for example, some people will vape more than others and choose to use lower strength e-liquid. Stronger liquids cause a more intense “throat hit”, so this needs to be considered before making your purchase.
Another issue is that some devices kick out more of the vapour per puff. As a rule of thumb, choose lower nicotine concentration e-liquid for more powerful devices.
Can I quit smoking by vaping?
This is impossible to say, as it depends from person to person, however many people are known to have quit smoking by substituting with vaping.
We believe that vaping offers a unique opportunity for smokers to transition away from smoking, and that the products are improving all the time, and more smokers are finding the right devices for them. However, buying a proper device that fits all your needs as a smoker is an essential step in becoming smoke-free, and truly transitioning to vaping.
Why does the E-Liquid sometimes change colour?
When some e-liquids are exposed to air and light they sometimes change colour; this is perfectly normal. If the e-liquid in your tank turns into a dark brown/black colour, you may need to change your tank or replace the atomizer head in the unit (if it is a replaceable clearomizer).
What ingredients are in E-Liquids?
All E-Liquid consists of Vegetable Glycerine, Propylene Glycol, food flavourings, nicotine and in some cases a food colouring.
Juices that are labelled 100% VG contain little to no propylene glycol whatsoever.
Propylene Glycol (PG):
- Propylene Glycol, in combination with nicotine and the flavours is meant to give vapers a stronger throat hit.
Vegetable Glycerine (VG):
- Glycerine helps to produce more vapour and holds more flavour.
Is nicotine harmful?
Theoretically, nicotine isn’t harmful to the body if smoked, but it is a highly-addictive substance that can cause harsh withdrawal symptoms. It is however toxic, if ingested.
Are E-Liquids suitable for vegetarians?
